Becoming a Judge

Self-nominations to become a judge are open until April 30, 2026.

The Awards 2026 is looking for 12 judges, at least 50% of which will be POC and 50% of which will be of marginalized genders.

Qualifications needed:

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Willing and able to read/watch/listen to 100-200 TTRPG submissions in a 3-month span
  • Willing and able to participate regularly in a Discord server with other judges to discuss finalists over a 6-8 week period

Judges will be announced publicly in early May.

Submitting Work

Submissions for The Awards 2026 open on May 1, 2026.

Criteria for eligibility:

  • Material was released between June 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025
  • No AI used in any way for any part of the submission
  • Submission did not raise more than US$100,000 as part of a crowdfunding campaign
  • Written/recorded in English

Submitters must be a primary contributor to the submission (i.e. a lead designer or publisher) and are limited to submitting 2 items or 50 pages of material, whichever limit is hit first. Judges are only obligated to read 50 pages’ worth of material per submitter.

The Awards 2026 Timeline

  • April 1: judge applications open
  • April 30: judge applications close
  • May 1: submissions open
  • Early May: judges chosen
  • May 31: submission submissions close
  • June-August: judges read through all submissions and vote Yes/No
  • September: judges convene in a Discord server and discuss finalists (submissions that met a particular Yes-vote threshold)
  • Mid October: judges vote on finalists and select 20 winners
  • Late October/early November: The Awards 2026 winners livestream (platform TBD)
